St David’s Day at the Juboraj

Yesterday, March 1st, saw the National St. David’s Day Parade making it’s way through the streets of Cardiff. Crowds of onlookers watched on as the parade marched from Cathays Park, Cardiff’s civic centre, along a route that saw it make it’s way down the Hayes and past the Juboraj in Mill Lane, before entering the Castle for an afternoon of Celtic entertainment.

The Juboraj Group has sponsored the parade for a number of years now and this year was no different. After the march and providing entertainment in the castle grounds the Scots pipe band, California & District Pipe Band made their way to the Juboraj on Mill Lane to perform outside the restaurant before making their way in to enjoy the now traditional St. David’s Day Curry. They were soon joined by Circle Celtique ‘Tal ouzo Tal’, a troop of Dancers all the way from Brittany.

St. David himself, Mike Peterson, entertained the pipe band with poetry and singing before tucking in to the curry himself. He was known as St. David the water drinker and he needed a glass or two to quench the fire of the Juboraj’s signature dish Chicken Kolahpuri.

The Scots pipers, who know their curry, said they’d not tasted a curry this good before. High praise indeed!
